In the Spotlight: Drones & Constitutional Convention in NY

Bill Mahoney of Politico NY analyzed New York’s last constitutional convention in 1967. This was the first piece of a series examining the referendum this November on whether to hold another state constitutional convention. In 1967 voters ended up supporting the referendum with the largest support coming from New York City.  (August 28)

Robert Creenan of the Cortland Standard shared happenings from the Cortland County primary candidate forum hosted by the League of Women Voters of Cortland County. Questions included how to manage the county jail, attract business and address substance abuse. (August 28)

Mark Weiner of Syracuse.com reported that two of the three teams selected by the Defense department “to develop new technology that could defend U.S. forces against swarms of small drones” are Syracuse-based defense contractors. Modified recreational drones were deployed military by the Islamic State in the recent battle over Mosul in Iraq. (August 30)
