Lowest Trump approval ratings & MAGA numbers spell major trouble for midterm prospects By Jeremy Zogby
President Donald Trump’s approval rating and key issue ratings have fallen to their lowest levels of his second term, according to a new John Zogby Strategies poll.
The President’s approval/disapproval ratio stands at 38% to 59%. Zogby polling has consistently shown his approval in the mid-40s for months, indicating a major shift in disapproval.
Among his party, the President receives 79% approval. Among Independent voters, just 21% approve, and 73% disapprove.
The new poll, launched after the latest intense fighting in Iran roiled oil markets, also reveals new lows on President Trump’s signature issues, suggesting the Iran fighting and oil-market turmoil helped shape these results:
On handling of immigration: 44% approval, 51% disapproval
On handling crime: 40% approval, 51% disapproval
And other major issues that appear to be converging:
On handling affordability: 32% approval, 62% disapproval
On the Iran war: 33% approval, 61% disapproval

On each of these issues, the President won approval among independents: 14% on affordability, 18% on Iran, 26% on crime, and 31% on immigration.
In the Congressional ballot, a sample of likely 2026 Midterm voters (N= 921, MOE +/- 3.2) shows Democrats leading Republicans 51% to 40%.
The President’s 2024 winning coalition, built on security, lower living costs, and ending wars, has dissolved in months. The public awakened to Iran’s stronghold on the Straits of Hormuz, and that has created a major problem for MAGA and limited their ability to pull off a win in November.
